1959 CUSTOM
CADILLAC CRUISER by: STEVE HELLER
SIMPLY AMAZING
If anyone met the famous Woodstock artist Steve Heller, that is the
thought that would come to mind. Known the world over as the premier
automotive inspired artist and creative sculpture genius, this low key
yet high profile artist is to put it simply; THE WORLD’S BIGGEST CAR
FAN. Steve absolutely loves cars and anything to do with cars. His art
form uses and incorporates cars and parts of cars everywhere. Many
years ago as I was traveling on a highway in New York headed for my
country weekend home, I passed a building where all the yard was filled
with sculpture and art based on cars. I just had to stop and admire
the pure creativeness of this unique display. Little did I know that I
would one day have the pleasure of representing Steve to present and
sell his artistic pride and joy: STEVE HELLER’S 1959 CADDY HOT RODDED
RIDE.
This quite simply, one of the most recognized cars in the world. It has
been featured at more shows and events than I have ever been to. Long
before car enthusiast thought about customizing these massive cruisers,
Steve had the idea to get a 59 Caddy and add his flavor to it. This was
27 years ago. The fantastic car you are seeing today is the result of
years of work to make this car the grand daddy of customized cars. It
would take too much text to explain everything. Look at the photos here
and you can see for yourself. Just the flame work alone is worth the
price of admission here. The entire car was built from various parts
from other famous cars, but there is not mistaking the core of the car.
The entire body was stripped to bare metal and shot with PPG epoxy
primer both outside and under. Using the back halves of 53 Pontiac
hoods, he custom fabricated the worlds largest bubble skirts. Pin
stripping was done by the master Howie Nisgor, over Gotham Gold with
pink and purple lavender flames, and the list goes on and on.
When Steve made the decision to sell this car, every auction house worth
their value made a pitch for the deal. But true to Steve’s character as
an artist who works the outside lane, he opted to sell here on our site
using EBay.
This car belongs to any premier collector or car museum. It would put a
smile on Steve’s face to know that the winner of this auction will not
only admire and preserve it, but most important: IT IS A DRIVER AND
STILL WANTS THE ROAD.
NOTE: Since this car has so many features, we strongly suggest that you
